Excursions

Sharing the coach

As these tours are for exclusive use of the coach, the cost varies depending on the number in your group. As a coach costs the same to hire regardless of the number of people using it, the more people travelling on it, the cheaper it gets. Smaller groups travelling to the same destination, who do not mind sharing the same coach, can if they wish join up for the journey, so long as they arrive and depart from the same airport and the times are similar. This way everyone avails of the cheaper price. Remember, even if you share the coach with another group, you still each have your own self-catering accommodation centre.

How to book flights

You can either book the flights yourself, or if you wish, we can book them for you. However to do this we need a list of all passenger names as is on their passports, and payment for the cost of flights in advance. Once booked, these flights cannot be changed, and name changes are only possible for a supplementary charge.

When to book flights

You do not have to worry about flights yet as these are usually best booked in January or February of the year travelling when we continuously surf the net to try to get the cheapest fare for you. But do not wait till then to book your summer camp with us because by that time most destinations are already sold out.

Where to book flights

The cheapest option is almost always online with Ryanair, Aer Lingus or any low cost carrier. For larger groups travelling to our destinations in Austria, France or Switzerland, then Charleroi is almost certainly the cheapest option. Ok you have the coach journey of between 10 and 12 hours, but the coach remains with you in resort and because Ryanair have a large capacity to Charleroi, the flights are usually reasonable.

If you want to avoid the long coach journey then if travelling to Austria there are direct flights from Dublin to Memmingen in Germany, which is just 2 hours from our centres. If travelling to France, then fly direct from Dublin to Rodez which is just 90 minutes travel time away from the Gorges du Tarn. For Switzerland you will have to fly with Aer Lingus to either Zurich (3 hrs) or Geneve, 4 hours travel time from Adelboden.

If travelling to one of our more distant European destinations, there are a number of options available depending on the size of your group. We would suggest you contact us to discuss which would be the best and most cost effective way to travel.

Regardless which way you travel once you get to your chosen destination your tour price always includes the following

Accommodation

Each group that travels with us is allocated their own exclusive accommodation centre for their sole use. All centres are fully furnished and equipped and with ample toilet and shower facilities. All utility charges are included. Bedrooms are mostly furnished with double-tiered bunk beds with rooms varying in size from 6 to 10 bedded rooms for group members and 2 to 4 bedded rooms for leaders. Blankets and pillows are provided, you just need to bring your own bed linen or sleeping bag and towels.

Regional Variations

In Switzerland, some accommodation centres have multi-beds. These rooms have one long bed with up to 10 mattresses side by side. This is typical Swiss mountain chalet accommodation.

In France due to fire regulations a few of our centres have large tents in the garden with wooden flooring, electric lighting and furnished with bunk beds.

Food Provisions

All food provisions are included in the price and delivered to your centre enabling you to prepare 3 hearty meals a day. Sample menus are provided which you may adapt to suit your own tastes. There is no reasonable limit on the amount of food supplied. Provisions are provided for packed lunches for groups on excursions and for the return journey. We promise you won’t go hungry.

JEKA Service Team

At all times during your journey to and from resort our phone is staffed so that in the unlikely event of there being a problem, we can be contacted immediately.

In every resort is a local JEKA office and a team of dedicated volunteers ready to help in any way they can to get the most out of your stay as well as providing a 24 hour backup service.
